A million-dollar infrared microscope capable of detecting defects invisible to the human eye is now operational in the University of Arizona's Nanofabrication Core Facility, thanks to a transformational gift from IRLabs.

Field-relevant work experience improves a student's likelihood of securing a full-time job after graduation and increases starting wages. Yet for many students, pursuing a full-time internship while making progress toward their degree simply isn't financially feasible.

The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson will establish the Gulshan Sethi, MD Endowed Professorship in Cardiothoracic Surgery through $1 million in gifts and commitments from a group of donors motivated to honor Sethi's extraordinary legacy of surgical innovation, lifesaving care and mentorship that has shaped generations of physicians and advanced the field of cardiothoracic surgery.

A $2 million gift from Bob and Sue Vaughan will create the SueBob Vaughan Leaders Endowed Chair at the University of Arizona W.A. Franke Honors College. 

A generous $1 million gift from John and Valli Duval will provide enduring support for cancer research and clinical innovation at the University of Arizona Comprehensive Cancer Center.

A transformational gift will create an endowed deanship in the University of Arizona College of Science, strengthening the college's leadership and advancing its mission for generations to come through research, education and outreach.

A $5 million gift commitment from the Carlyle One Health Group will enable the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health to build programs and capacity to stop future pandemics and educate a new generation of adaptive and technologically skilled global health professionals.

In order to encourage others to donate during Giving Day, the donor offered a four-to-one match of all gifts directed to academic priorities at the university, resulting in a Giving Day total of $25,699,324 and breaking the previous record of $7.3 million, set in 2025.

Wildcat legend Steve Kerr's international upbringing sparked a curiosity about the world, a love of travel and a lifelong embrace of cultural diversity. Now, he and his wife Margot, also a U of A graduate, have made a gift commitment of $1 million to support study abroad scholarships for students in the University of Arizona College of Humanities.
