Campaign Strategy
The University’s clear, prioritized strategic plan has many initiatives that cannot happen without donor support. After the success of our last campaign, Arizona NOW, and the many ways it transformed our campus, we are ready to go even bigger.
The University’s faculty and students went through an incredibly difficult time during COVID-19, but despite the challenges and disruptions, President Robbins has positioned the University to emerge from the pandemic stronger than ever. As the pandemic wanes and our overall goals come into even clearer focus, philanthropy and this campaign will play an essential role in bringing our University’s biggest ambitions to life.
Fuel Wonder speaks to our responsibility to provide our students, faculty and staff with the resources to “wonder” and to pursue their passions by opening doors for their success via philanthropy. It was created alongside University’s Wonder campaign, with the intent of integrating philanthropy into the University’s larger story. Fuel Wonder provides a vocal and visual way to energize the Wildcat family while also gaining excitement from potential supporters in the community and other external audiences.
To transform our campus, transform our work, take giant leaps forward in innovation, and to elevate the educational experience for everyone working for or at the University of Arizona. At the end of the campaign, we should look back and see completed dreams, fulfilled visions of incredible magnitude, and meaningful impact for students that lead to opportunities we can only now imagine. Faculty will have greater means to take incredible projects further, students should have more resources that increase success and lower the financial burden of attendance, and key programs should be launched that elevate the university’s impact to a new level of prominence.
We live in a time of incredible innovation, and the University of Arizona is at the core of pushing bold ideas forward. By investing in our students, faculty, and programs in a big way, we amplify the unique university ecosystem that makes innovation possible, enables programs to make meaningful differences in our communities, and provides students with educational experiences that they can’t get anywhere else. There are faculty members currently on campus who cannot push their ideas further without support. There are students currently on campus who do not receive the support that they need to fully focus on their studies. There are programs that could do more if only they had the means to do it. This campaign will fill these gaps and enable everyone at the university to fuel their wonder in whatever way is most meaningful to them.
The University’s Wonder campaign has always been described as a human campaign driven by storytelling that seeks to shine a light on unique perspectives and achievements across the University. The Fuel Wonder campaign is no different, especially because donors love to see specific impact and get an insider’s view on the people and students supported by philanthropy. To this end, our creative and communications strategies will focus on real people, showcasing their unique stories to celebrate and highlight the overall philanthropic spirit of the University of Arizona.
Diversity and representation are at the core of the university’s values, and this campaign will reflect the wide range of people and work that make up the university ecosystem. When planning our communications, we will keep a special eye toward representation, both for different groups of people on campus, and for the diverse range of disciplines and research efforts that make up the university’s impact here in Tucson, in Arizona, in the U.S., and around the world.
