A nexus of award-winning programs and centers that encourage both independent and collaborative-driven research, our academic departments, schools and research units encompass the range of physical, mathematical, environmental and life sciences.
Our scientists and students also share their knowledge with the local and broader community through extensive outreach and public service initiatives, such as providing the Science lecture series free and open to the public. Your support helps make our outreach efforts possible. Donors also help us empower faculty to pursue the research they’re passionate about and make educational opportunities available for our brightest students.
The department of astronomy is a world leader in research and home to one of the top academic programs in the world. The department is directly associated with Steward Observatory, an internationally renowned astronomical research center that has led the development of new light detectors, giant telescope mirrors, and much more.
